Rob Rainey Video - Resume

Consistent excellence.  That has been my goal for more than 30 years as a cameraman and director of photography.  Specializing in documentary style production, I bring strong lighting skills and excellent handheld work to every assignment, whether it's for one of the broadcast or cable networks, an independent production company or a corporate client.  In recent years, my work has won national and regional Emmy Awards and a Peabody Award.  Sony and Panasonic High Definition camera packages available, as well as Digital Betacam and BetacamSP.

I started Rob Rainey Video Inc. in 1991 after almost ten years as a staff cameraman with CBS News.  I traveled throughout the USA on assignment for CBS, as well as to Europe, Central America, Cuba and Japan.  From 1980 to 1982, I worked as a freelance cameraman for ABC News, CBS News and NBC News.

I worked at WSM-TV in Nashville from 1976 through 1979 as a news and documentary cameraman and editor, working in both 16mm film and video. One of my documentaries was nominated for a national Emmy award, another won a Columbia/Dupont Award and a third won an Edward R. Murrow Award.

From 1973 to 1976 I worked in the same capacity for WAPI-TV in Birmingham, AL. Prior to that, and immediately after graduating from Auburn University, I worked as chief photographer for WCOV-TV in Montgomery.  In high school and college I worked part time as a studio cameraman for the Alabama Educational Television production centers in Auburn and Montgomery.

I love what I do and if you've read this far, you know I've been doing it for a long time. But every shoot is a learning experience and every assignment can be an adventure.
